When I decided I was ready to take my training to the next level and start competing I had a big choice to make. I needed a coach, someone with experience and passion to help get me stage ready. I knew of Daniel but decided to go with what I thought was a "bigger name" in the industry first. After coughing up a few hundred to get put through some workouts that were nothing new to me and being put on a diet that was basically "eat fewer carbs", it was clear this "bigger name coach" wasn't going to get me where I needed to be. From our very first interaction and the start of my programming I could tell Daniel had a customized plan and a clear vision to get me my best results! He answered all of my exhaustive questions all the way up to competition day, helped me with posing and gave me the confidence I needed to kill it! He got my physique dialed in so perfect we even took home some hardware from a class that was full of experienced competitors! It was an awesome experience I'll never forget. Whenever I've got a big challenge to overcome in life I think back on it and am reminded that I'm capable of anything! Not a lot of life experiences that pay dividends like that...
Daniel talked me into trying out bodybuilding while I lived in San Marcos. I was a powerlifter with an eating and drinking problem, but he believed in me and saw potential in me. After agreeing to switch to bodybuilding and have him train me starting January 2014, I haven't looked back or regretted my decision at all. He's been there every step of my bodybuilding journey and has never let me down. If something was gonna be difficult, he let me know, but he never gave me a program he knew I wouldn't be able to do mentally or physically. I know of a lot trainers that just give programs and don't worry about their clients/athletes health overall, but Daniel isn't one of those trainers. When he takes on a client, he's there for advice and guidance whenever needed. He never a gives on people even if they've given up on themselves, and wants to see everyone succeed. I'm honored to not only call him my trainer/coach, but a friend that I consider family.
I don't even know where to start about Daniel. He is one of the few coaches who actually care about his clients, whether that be getting you dialed in physically or making sure you are ok mentally.
I remember the day I met him...I was so intimidated and didn't even know how I would go about prepping for a show. He makes everything easy. Telling you exactly what to do, how to do it and how much, so basically he takes all of the stress and worry off of it. His plans are in great detail... Cardio, workouts, diet, supplements. All you have to do it follow what he gives you and if you screw up because life happens.. Then just be honest so he can adjust accordingly. That's a great thing about him. He has patience and wants to help you succeed with whatever goal you set. I remember I went to him multiple times in tears because of things like school, boy issues, period issues ect. and not following the diet...not only did he make me feel less guilty about messing up, he immediately stopped what he was doing to give me a huge hug and talk me through whatever issue it was with meaningful advice...yes he even went up to the boyfriend and had that talk with them ha!
Not only was he my coach, but he became a father figure to me. He and his wife are like family to me, and they are the most selfless individuals you'll find... Which is what I honestly think people need when they take on a fitness joirney.. You want those kinds of people around to keep you accountable and eager to work.
It was a pleasure having Daniel as a trainer and coach. Very timely, professional, and direct with his plan layouts and assessments. I never had to worry about him sugar coating what needed to be done which is the sign of a trainer who cares. I'd highly recommend Daniel as a trainer to anyone looking to see real results whether that be as an aspiring bodybuilder or if they're just trying to live a healthier lifestyle. Daniel is an incredible trainer with vast amounts of knowledge on training and meal planning. He is sensitive to the challenges that we go through and handles our stumbles with mercy and grace. Daniel is a great friend and I have really enjoyed training with him over the last 12 months. I recommend Daniel to everyone I know that is looking to get in better health physically. He is great whether you want to compete or simply wanting to feel better about yourself.
It had been a huge goal of mine to play college football at the highest level. However, during high school I struggled greatly with gaining weight, and as an offensive lineman, this was a major issue. During my junior year summer, I was a whopping 222 pounds before going to Daniel. I went to him in late May, and he not only went out of his way to get me a training schedule with specified workouts, reps, and weight; Daniel also gave me a full eating regiment to follow. These included exactly what I should eat and when and he also provided the proper protein supplements to consume. During the entire summer he would check up on me, change some of my meals etc, ensuring I met my goals. By the start of my senior year, just two and a half short months later, I was 265 pounds. I had developed myself in the weight room as well, allowing me to achieve a scholarship all due to Daniel's regiment he gave to me. Today I continue to follow his regiment when I need to add weight or get stronger in a specific area, I will text him and he is always willing to go out of his way to provide amazing programs for me to follow. Daniel single handedly took me from a small kid with no college shot, to a starting offensive lineman for the Army Black Knights and a record holder in the Army's all time weight records.

I trained with Daniel off and on for 2 years. He has everything you need in a trainer. He seriously knows his stuff from nutrition and workouts to ways to break thru that plateau. What makes Daniel stand out.? Well, for one, he listens. Many times he's talked me off the ledge of craziness and asked what is going on. He then helped me get back on track without making me feel like I was a failure. Secondly, he cares for his past clients. If I post that I'm having a bad day, he will encourage me. He is always there to listen and that is what makes a great trainer.
I’ve known Daniel and Michelle since before they were married, and started with Daniel training me after a small stroke left me off-balance and more than a little uncoordinated. He got me back on track, even through a cracked femur, strained knee tendons, and a viral infection in my motor nerves. I’m not where I’d like to be, certainly, and when and if I compete again, it may be in a wheelchair, but I know Daniel will get me where I need to be.
I’ve known a lot of trainers (I’ve been training with weights since I was 14, and I’m 62. My first trainer was a Mr. Universe from the 1950s), and Daniel is one of the few that both listens and builds something unique for each trainee.
IF you listen to him, and do what he says, you’ll get wherever you’re headed, fitness-wise. I just wish I were close enough to train AT Metroflex.
The best coach out there! I've had two coaches prior to joining up with #MetroFlex and having Daniel train me, and boy I must say I've gotten a lot stronger and way more definition that I thought I had after online training with him for nearly a year. The meals and training are pretty basic and straight forward (what I love) and it keeps me coming back for more. Give me another 8-10years and I'll give Daniel a run for his money in competition. In my dreams of course! Haha, he'll always be the first person I refer people to.
Daniel Hagerty changed my life. When i walked into metroflex gym san marcos for the first time i was at 28% body fat, and got winded taking a shower. I had no respect for myself and walked hunched over looking down. I told Daniel i wanted to get in shape. He not only got me in shape, he changed my life entirely. With Daniel's help i got down below 10% body fat and gained a large amount of muscle. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field and if you follow his programs changes are seen quickly. I started walking with my head high and looking at people in the face instead of at their feet. I suddenly enjoyed getting up every day and looked forward to whatever the day had in store. When i would feel down, he'd give me support and motivation not as a trainer, but as a friend. Daniel truly cares for his clients and treats them like family. Knowing Daniel has changed my life for the better and I will never forget the good he, and everyone else at Metroflex Gym San Marcos, has done in my life.
